What caught my attention in week thirty-seven, 2023
In continuation to week 36, here are a few thoughts and things that caught my attention in week 37, 2023:

📱 In terms of new software, this week has been absolutely quiet. No wonder, the new iPhones and Apple Watches were announced, and iOS/iPadOS 17 and watchOS 10 are coming out tomorrow. These are all things that have been discussed in great detail elsewhere by other people, so I don't need to write about them. I didn't plan to buy any new Apple devices this year, and the new hardware announced makes it easier for me to stick to my plan. However, I did update my iPhone and Apple Watch's OS to the RC versions this week. I'm not sure yet what to make of the new interface concept on the watch, and on the iPhone, only the new interactive widgets from a few already updated apps caught my attention. BTW I never liked the Disney inspired watch faces but the Snoopy one is awesome.

🗿 Anyways, I was pleased with updates from Obsidian, Actions for Obsidian, and Drafts. For Drafts, a nice action for integrating with Soulver was posted, and FlohGroh released one for the new Command Palette. Last but not least Rafa teased his new app, Thwip: a soundboard for iPhone and the Watch.

⌨️ Lately, my old Magic Keyboard, which still runs on batteries, has been complaining frequently about supposedly constantly empty batteries. Sometimes, I have to try three or four pairs of charged batteries before it starts working again. I suspect the issue is with the keyboard, but the batteries are also not the newest. Well, there was an offer for Keychron keyboards at the local computer store (Alternate is one of the bigger online hardware store here in Germany, their warehouse / HQ is in close proximity and has a physical store). It was a bit of a mystery - TKL, blue vs. red switches, mint or banana 🤯 In the end, I bought a Keychron K1 SE with brown optical switches. I still need some time to get used to the very different keyboard, but I'm already very happy with it.

🎮 On the other hand, there was an offer for the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in the local retail store. I couldn't resist and spontaneously upgraded our old PS4. For the next few months, I'll have to use all my pocket money to pay everything back into our household budget 🤦♂️. But I'm now enjoying a better controller, better graphics, great sound, and a much quieter console.

☀️ The weather was still very nice, and we went for a few bike rides (112 km). My road bike got to come along again; for the past few months, I've mainly been using the gravel bike...

📺 I finished season 1 of Silo together with my wife. I'm still not clear on what the ending (apart from the obvious) was trying to convey.
