It was a rather quiet week. Anyhow, in continuation to week seventeen, here are a few things that caught my attention in week eighteen, 2023:
π΄ββοΈ This weekend, I took part in a road bike ride organized by a club (in Germany, they are called RTF, Radtourenfahrt). I was about two thirds of the time part of a small group of four, we had quite a lot of fun on the bike and at the end of the 104 km long tour, an average speed of 29 km/h was displayed on my bike computer. That was not at all slow for my conditions and so I felt then also the rest of the day: exhausted but satisfied. π
π After a long beta period Mona for Mastodon was finally released and is available in the App Store for iOS and macOS. I was happy to buy the Mona Pro Max for Spring upgrade. When I look at the Bluesky hype, I sometimes think if it wouldn't have been better for Mastodon if Ivory and Mona would have distributed only sporadic testflight invites for ever. π€£
πΊ I didn't know until now that there are alternative front-end interfaces for youtube (Invidious, Piped) and with Yattee an iOS client for them.1
π‘ 1Password has become IMHO...
What caught my attention in week seventeen, 2023
In continuation to week sixteen, here are a few things that caught my attention in week seventeen, 2023:
π This week my mood was a little better during the week and in the end there was the nice prospect of three days off.
π΄ββοΈ I used the time to convert my gravel bike from 27.5" wheels with 650B x 48 Juniper Ridge TC to 700C wheels with tubeless SCHWALBE G-ONE R 45-622 and thoroughly cleaned the drive and everything else. I'm glad I'm finally rid of this "winter tires" and again sleeker (and quieter) on the road.
π’ Somehow I think it's a pity that so many people are leaving Mastodon for Bluesky. I'm still trying to resist my curiosity. I don't really want to be part of a social network run by a billionaire anymore.
πͺ I had problems with my LG monitor at work for a very long time, it constantly failed for a few seconds. I tried everything and eventually got another monitor. Maybe I should have changed my chair instead?
π₯οΈ Federico Viticcireturned to macOS and John Voorhees recommended some great apps. I already had forgotten, that I own an old Lingon license, "a powerful app to run things automatically on your Mac that is also easy to use" and long ago looked into Paletro, a "command palette in any application". I might reevaluate them both.
In continuation to week fifteen, here are a few things that caught my attention in week sixteen, 2023:
π‘ During the week I was mainly in a very, very bad mood and this mostly at work. No idea if I should sit this out or if I need to change something.
π΅ββοΈ Aside from the hay fever, it was nice to finally see blossoming trees and flowers outside and even the sun for a change. My wife and I took advantage of the weather to cycle to a reading in Fulda, 100 km away, to which I had been given tickets to for my birthday. Thanks to pretty strong wind, the trip was a little more cumbersome than hoped, but it was two very nice days. βοΈ
